THE GLORY OF RUSSIAN FASHION: EXHIBITION AT MANEZH 18 - 31 OCTOBER


The exhibition of the outstanding designer, Slava Zaitsev (whose name means Glory) will take place from 18 to 31 October, 2012 in Manezh. The exhibition, devoted to the 30-year anniversary of Slava Zaitsev's Fashion House, will show off the most significant works of the couturier.
It is the first retrospective exhibition of Slava Zaitsev, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of his Fashion House and the 50th anniversary of his creative work. It will be held with the support of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia and Manezh from 18 to 31 October, 2012. Over these two weeks all those interested will be able to familiarize themselves with the masterpieces of the designer, tracing his career from 1982 to the present. The exhibition will present unparalleled luxuries and chic creations from the Fashion House. Exclusive gowns will be on display which were created by the designer over the past 30 years.
Some of the more famous collections of the Master include: "1000th anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus"(1987-1988), presented in New York and Paris; "Russian Seasons"(1988), presented in Paris; a collection of clothes from European fabrics(1988), presented in Munich; a collection of men's fashion(1989), presented in Florence at Men's Fashion Week; and a collection of women's clothing from domestic fabrics(1990), presented at the Tokyo summit, Five Outstanding Artists of the Fashion World. There will also be two personal collections which were shown in Belgium(1993-1994), collections from when the Fashion Theater Of V. Zaitsev participated in the international fashion festival of in Berlin (1999), and the exhibition of artistic works and suits exhibited in the Russian embassy in London(2010).

The couturier, artist, poet, Director of the Moscow Fashion House, member of the Russian Academy of Arts, National Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize and the prize of the President of Russia, and honorary citizen of Russia and Paris, Vyacheslav Zaitsev has, with his talent, won numerous titles for artistic creativity. The French press has even dubbed him the Red Dior. In 2005 he was awarded first prize in the field of fashion and style by ASTRA "for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion", and in 2012 won "Best Designer of the Year" by GQ magazine.
Vyacheslav Zaitsev has for years been a pioneer and one of the most successful Russian fashion designers in the modern sense. Zaitsev was the first designer among his Soviet counterparts to open his own European-style fashion house which continues to thrive to this day. In Soviet times he opposed the collective practice for the creation of clothes and was the first to begin putting his label on his creations. Since 1982, this master has created artistic collections in Prêt-à-Porter and Haute Couture which are famous far beyond our own country, while retaining his own distinct, elegant style.
